Policy
This policy is a summary of the provisions for easy understanding. The full, binding provisions follow in the Provisions section.
Libreon’s Fanwork & IP Trust Policy
Libreon supports both original creators and derivative creators (like fanfiction writers) through a simple mutual trust model.
Mutual Trust: The Basics
Libreon is a platform where creators and fans can safely share original and derivative works. To make this work, we ask everyone—whether you’re writing original fiction or building on an existing world—to follow some shared understandings:
For Fan Creators (Transformative Works)
You own your fanwork — You retain ownership of your creative contributions, but gain no rights over the original work it’s based on.
You’re responsible for permission — Only post derivative works if you have a legal right to do so.
You waive claims against the original IP holder — By sharing an authorized derivative work on Libreon, you agree not to sue the original creator—even if future official works resemble your fanwork.
For IP Rights Holders (Original Creators)
You control your IP — No one can use your original work in ways you haven’t permitted.
You waive claims against authorized fanworks — You agree not to sue an authorized fan creator who used your IP within the boundaries of your permission.
